Love on Canvas

I tried my hand, for the first time, at a canvas layout. I am so proud of this one! It's actually a kit from CTMH and I've had it sitting on my desk for a couple months, waiting for inspiration to bonk me in the forehead lol and it did on the wknd. A yr ago this past April, my grandma passed - she was almost 92, so lived an amazing life - still doesn't make it easy though, does it. So this is a tribute to her. I love this photo of her. She looked so vibrant and happy! I added the yellow rose as that was her favourite colour rose and that was what we had at her committal service. I'm proud of this piece and I know she certainly would be too!! I'm sure she heard me cursing, just a teeny bit, at those rhinestones and she would have had a good laugh for sure! But I did it!! I didn't have to throw them out! Yay me!!! LOL!

Child's Play - "Scrabble"!!

One of my favorite games growing up and even now is Scrabble which is our inspirational idea at Child's Play this week!!! So here's my take on this awesome game ... I chose to do another LO for grandma's book and I used the colors of the Scrabble game and made sure to add words on my LO. I really like the way it turned out.

LMCB #90 "Leaving Footprints Behind"

Better late than never, right? This is one of those challenges I had a completely different idea in mind and came up with this one!! I wanted to add another page to my grandma's book as she is "Leaving Footprints Behind" which is our challenge this week at Lasting Memories AND we're being sponsored by Digi Darla too!! I realized AFTER I was done this LO that I didn't add one of her images, but you'll have to be sure to check out what the DT came up with and how they used Digi Darla's images. 

For my LO, I chose to use a piece of art we found when cleaning grandma's room out. I have more to add as we took photo's of all her drawings/paintings. This particular one is amazing - just look at her sketch, it's so close isn't it? She was very talented!!

For my LO today, I chose to do another page for my Grandma's book. She was a very special person in my life, especially when I was little, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents and these are some photo's that came into my hands after she passed in April. I thought it very fitting to do my LO with these photo's this week and to celebrate the time with my grandma.

"Good Times Together"

Another page to share from my ongoing work on "Grandma's Story". All these are being done in My Memories Suite V3 as we are going to give a copy to both my Aunts as well as my mom. I'll take a copy as well as I don't have a lot of the originals BUT I'm also going to do some traditional scrapbooking with the photo's that I do have. 

So, story behind this is my Aunt's birthday. We had some fun with one of the photo's and made it "Fishbowl" in My Memories Suite. The second page - my mom had set up a tripod to get all of them in the same photo, so she said everyone put your hands on your laps. Grandma didn't really care for that idea, can ya tell by her expression?? Oh I laughed!! The second one was a goofy one and she put her thumb up and then stared at it as the camera went off. Too funny!!!

Hello! Well, another wknd has passed us by. Seems the months are just flying by, doesn't it?? Maybe one of these days spring will come back!! I wanted to share another 2 pg layout for "Grandma's Story". This was her 93rd birthday on December 2, 2011. I just love this photo and that smile would light a room. The story behind the second layout was "OH! I don't need chocolate cake!!" (spoken with an english accent) and my Aunt Anne spoon fed her a little piece .. which you can see from the second photo that she decided she certainly DID need that chocolate cake!!

I LOVE this title!! My mom made it down today and we had a chance to work a little on Grandma's book. She LOVED her cat, Toffee, which this layout very clearly states I think!! Just had to share! This was taken in Feb - see, I stamped the date on kitties toosh!

"Grandma's Story"

I recently lost my grandmother, as some of you know, and since that day, there have been photo's and stories flying around via email and I tell ya, there's some good ones! The family is compiling stories to do a memoir and I've decided to do a digital album for my mom and her 2 sisters as they spent the most time with her. Here's the first page of her story with many more to come. The pages likely won't be in order till I get them all done and then printed - so many photo's to add!!
