Back To School With House Mouse!

Hello! Well, a few more days and our kid's are back to school. We have Andrew going into Gr 8 and Ashleigh going into Gr 4. Wow, one's graduating after this yr and one's becoming a junior. Last wknd, a couple of us gals got together and I played around with this stamp set. I borrowed it from my friend Monica and you can see some of her work here on our Club Blog. I had a look through this week's challenges and I've decided to enter this into the Samptacular Sunday Challenge # 22, Scallop Mania. I added brown fun flock to my little mouse, colored with Lyra's and OMS and added bling to the pencil eraser.

House Mouse Challenge # 48 - Sketch!

Hello! I'm a couple days late on my House Mouse Monday challenge, which is a sketch this week, but I'm on holidays, so not in my craft room as much. Mind you, with all this rain, you think I would be. I actually find I'm having a little creative block right now too, so thank goodness for challenges! I actually wanted to try something a little different with this one and make the card pattern/paper more of a focal point than the image. Let me know what you think!!!

STAMP: House Mouse 'Confetti Rain 02'
PAPER: Life's Delight (CTMH)
INK: Crystal Blue (CTMH)
EMBELLISHMENTS: Ribbon and brads from CTMH
CARD: Pre-embossed 6x6 kit from Michaels

House Mouse Challenge # 46 - No Coloring

Hello! Hope everyone had a fantastic wknd!! It was nice here in Ontario, but still not the summer warmth that we're used to. We're still below normal temps, but I'll take it since it isn't snow!!!
This card is actually for 2 different challenges:
  1. House Mouse Monday Challenge # 46 - No Coloring
  2. Keswick Scrapbooker's Club "Play Along" Monday Challenge - Use your scraps!

I used a House Mouse stamp called "Tails of True Love" and the paper is CTMH "Silhouette" and I used CTMH "White Daisy" ink for the stamp. Enjoy!

House Mouse Challenge #44 - Thinking Of You

This is my House Mouse Monday Challenge entry for this week. The challenge this week is Paper Tole. Learn what this is here. I did the technique with my hummingbird and I've shown a side view so you can see it better. The card turned out really cute! I'm still perfecting my hand sewing machine. It only does the one stitch though, so I may invest in something a little bigger, but not to big.
I hope you like it!

Good morning! Well, it has been VERY hot this week here in Ontario! I've found myself indoors more in the afternoon and then the little ones are napping, I can play in my scrap room a bit. I decided to join in the House Mouse Monday Challenge this week. We had to follow a sketch and here's what I came up with. I've also added some fun flock to the little 'mousy' bear to add texture. Thank you to my friend, Tanya, for lending me her stamps!

Meistro Mouse! A Teacher's Gift

This year I wanted to try something different for the kid's teachers. Awhile ago, I found a body scrub idea on a fellow blogger site and I loved the idea. So, I went researching body scrub recipes and I found one called "Mocha Sugar Body Scrub". Since Andrew's teacher loves music and is a music teacher (an amazing one at that), I went with my little Meistro Mouse. He's colored in with watercolor blending pencils and then on the top of the little jar, I did the same image using CTMH 'white daisy' ink. Want to try it yourself? Here's what you need:
  • half cup (white) sugar
  • 3 tbsps coffee grinds
  • 2 tbsps cocoa
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 2-3 tbsps almond oil
  • pinch of vanilla extract (optional) ashleigh and I added a little to ours

In a glass bowl, mix all your dry ingredients together and then add your almond oil to you reach your desired texture. Don't be surprised if you use a bit more. I ended up using a bit more cinnamon and added vanilla. I followed the recipe and then added things till it smelled just right to me. I also added a bit more oil as well. I tried it in the shower yesterday and mmm mmmm mmm! Bathroom smelled like a nice blend of coffee and chocolate!! I have to be honest, when you first open it, the first thing you think is "WHAT is that??" But it leaves your skin feeling soft and smelling yummy!

Enjoy!

Another House Mouse Card

Here's another little house mouse card. I know, it does look a little like Xmas with the mistletoe, but I had never colored it before and wanted to try it! I colored the stamp with my lyra's and used my mineral spirits for blending, added a little touch by embossing with swiss dots and then distressing the paper and if you can see it, I chalked a little pearlescent blue around the mice and a little brown under their feet!

Life Is Good...

Wow, can you believe it's May 1 today?? Well, they say April showers bring May flowers and I tell ya, after the rain yesterday, we have lots of flowers coming up and we need a boat in our backyard. Riley, our (almost) 6 mth old pup is having a blast in it, thinks it's his personal pool, all the while we're telling him to get out or we're going to have a BIG muckhole back there!!! LOL!

So, I dug out my House Mouse stamps and started to play. I hope you enjoy this one. I wanted something fun and spring like.

For this card, I used:
  • Martha Stewart 'Hydrangea' punch
  • Cricut Cart: Graphically Speaking
  • CTMH Life's Delight Paper pack
  • Bling from Michaels
  • CTMH Liquid Glass on the berries
  • Stamping Bella "Pearlescent Chalks"

Enjoy!

House Mouse Birthday Card

Good morning! Another snowy day out there. Supposed to be 13* on the wknd, can you believe that?? I've added a 'Live Traffic Feed' to my site and I absolutely love it! I can see where you're from and it's so neat to see ppl from all around the world, coming to see my work! I'll have to be sure to keep posting!!

Yesterday I was looking for something and came across some cards I have made over the last yr, so thought I would share. This one was for my daughter's 8th birthday. It's a house mouse stamp and I used CTMH fun flock and glitter on the cupcake to add some dimension to it. She loved it!

House Mouse 'Birthday' Card

I made this for my friend's birthday. Again, the card is pre-embossed and bought at Michael's. I colored the image using watercolor pencils and then covered it with adhesive sheets and added prisma glitter! I added a little mouse on the envelope to match.

"Thinking Of You" Card

Have you ever seen the 'House-Mouse' stamp sets? They are SO cute! You can see them at http://www.house-mouse.com/ and you should have a look. Anyway, I got my first House-Mouse stamp set from my cousin, for Christmas. This is my first card that I made using it and I LOVE the way it's turned out.

I used watercolor paper and stamped it with staz-on and then used the CTMH watercolor pencils to color it in. Then, it's hard to tell here, but I used (alot of!) liquid glass to make the far look like glass and then also added some to the lollipops the little mice are licking.

Materials Used: (all CTMH unless otherwise noted)
  • watercolor pencils
  • blending pen
  • liquid glass
  • 'cottage' edge anchors
  • 'say it in style' acrylic stamp (thinking of you)
  • cuttlebug 'divine swirls' embossing folder
  • 'colonial white' ribbon collection
  • CS from the Boom Di Ada collection
  • distressing sandpaper
