Share The Holiday Warmth - Simon Says Challenge

I tried something new with this card. I embossed my image in clear embossing powder and then I watercolored her. I think it has a neat effect! This card is for this week's Simon Says Stamp challenge, which is Christmas in August! My cousin Nancy and her family, along with my Aunt Linda and her (soon to be) hubby, made me a scrapbooker's gift basket for my birthday and in it were these 3 fold cards. This is the first time I've used one and they're quite cute! I couldn't resist this little Sarah Kay stamp, "My Sweet Lily", for this one as she reminds me of my sleepy daughter on Xmas morning. I used a velum overlay on the front as well. Enjoy!

Reminder!

Don't forget, if you want to win the new Fall/Winter CTMH Idea Book, click here to see how!

"My Sweet Lily" ~ Fresh Batch Challenge - SASSC29

Good morning! I'm finally starting to feel my mojo coming back, slowly. This is my first attempt in over a week at a card. I did this for the Fresh Batch Sketch Challenge this week. For this one I used my new Sarah Kay stamp. I just love this one! I added some fun flock to her teddy bear and of course, some glitter here and there. I colored her with my lyra's and OMS. We found this amazing paper at a craft store and wow, does it ever allow the colors to move! I'm loving it!
Have a great day!
EDIT: I won the challenge for this week with this card! Thank you to Stamps and Smiles!

Wow, Did We Have Some CRAZY Weather!

Web Staff, cp24.com
A tornado touches down in Vaughan on Augugust 20, 2009.
The tornado damaged homes in the area.

Well, we have a wedding this wknd, so my sister and I ran down to Nmkt to get some last minute things and man, did we ever run into a storm! Or should I say, it ran into US! Out of nowhere, the sky opened up and the torrential downpours started. There was so much rain in so little time, it was crazy. We couldn't get signals on the cell phone, my kid's were home on their own, so finally my sister said "You drive, I'll keep trying" As she said that, lightening struck a hydro pole (the coils) and sparks were flying. The roads were now looking like a flood was happening, cars were hydro-planing. My sister said "This is another reason I don't have a license!" No kidding! So, we eventually made it to WalMart and it wasn't too bad at that point. It was really strange, one minute ppl were pulling off because you couldn't see and then it just stopped. It started again once we got up the road a bit, then stopped and once we were in WalMart, we could hear it hitting the roof. Anyway, long story short...my brother met us there to take our nephew out and as we were getting Hayden in the truck, the lightening was going all around us, in the clouds, like you were in the middle of something. Well, turns out, there was tornado's touching down all over the place. You can see some video here on our local news CP24. There was a beautiful rainbow on our way home and right now, it's very quiet, which I hope stays that way. We're still under a tornado watch, so fingers crossed.

EDIT: Vaughan (about 40 min's from us) ended up having to declare emergency last night and evacuate 180 homes due to them being unsafe. Looks like they got the worst of it. Our thoughts are with you guys!! Hang in there and stay safe.

Has Anyone Seen My Mojo??

Hi all. I just wanted to do a quick post and say, I'm still here, I've just seriously lost my mojo. I have been taking a break this week and just enjoying the summer weather with my munchkin's. Hard to believe they have 2 weeks and back to school they go! My daughter is doing her first year in riding camp this week and loving it. Each day she rides for an hour, swims for an hour, does crafts, all kinds of neat things and she is already asking about doing it next yr. We are also taking another week of holidays the week of August 31st, so really looking fwd to that. I was just starting to feel burned out. So, I promise to get back at it, as soon as I find my mojo!! I'm also waiting for some new stamps, that should be here tmw hopefully, so maybe that'll help!

Have a great day everyone...

Isabella's Baby Book

This is an album that I started for my new niece, Isabella, a little bit ago. I was waiting to get some pics to put in it. This morning I finally finished it! The album is a 6x6" accordian album from CTMH, the paper is called 'Baby Pink' (retired) from CTMH. I used my 'New Arrival' cricut cartridge for the embellishments, the stamped images on the front are from Stamping Bella as is the charm and the 'dream' and sentiment are from CTMH 'aspiration' stamp set.
Enjoy!

Some Of My Handmade Birthday Cards :)

I've been doing alot of coloring of my images, but I haven't been making anything with them. I just seem to have lost my mojo the last few days! I'll get back into it though. I think it's the heat and kid's are also busy in the pool, so I'm outside all day. I am NOT complaining! LOL! Here are some of my handmade cards I received for my birthday yesterday. I thought I would share!
Have a wonderful day everyone!

It's My Birthday!

Good morning! It's my birthday today, 29 and holding (LOL!) and last night, Ashleigh was so excited about her gift to me, she couldn't wait till today. She's almost 9. She went out with her nanny last week and decided to get me a gift as well. I thought this was adorable!! She chose everything and then when she got home, she ran to her room to put it all together and I was none the wiser. Is this set not too cute?? She did an amazing job on her card to, all by herself. The little booklet is full of sayings, in her handwriting, which I'll treasure. These are her words:
  • I love you, you're the best mom ever
  • I need you forever, you are you and I love how you are!
  • You're good how you are mom, and I want you to be just you!
  • I love you SO much! The end

Definately something to hold onto, huh? Hope everyone has a great day!! It looks like summer is FINALLY here!!

After The Storm

Last night, after the storm went through, the sky went quite yellow here and when I looked out my front door, the sky had started to brighten a bit and the sun was just hitting the top of the trees, which I think it what was making it look yellow. Anyway, I had to take a couple pics because if you look closely, there's a rainbow. Too bad it wasn't right over my house with that pot of gold at the end!!!!!

If Friend's Were Flowers...Just Magnolia Week #17

Meet Edwin! This week over at the Just Magnolia challenge blog, we had a sketch to follow! I had alot of fun with this one. Thank you to my mom for lending me her FIRST Magnolia to stamp! You can see some of her work here, on our club blog. I used a Stampin' Up stamp to do my background on the red paper and then I used CTMH "With Love" to do the flowers for Edwin to smell. (yes, I know, he's KISSING Edwin, but I have no one for him to kiss yet! LOL)
Enjoy and have a great day!

Tiger Lilly's

Good morning! We had some craxy weather here in Ontario yesterday! Thunderstorms off and on all day and night. Other than that, we can't really complain! On Saturday, 4 of us took a road trip down to Markham and our first stop was to Pointer's to see Nicky, and of course chk out the sales! Was great to see Nicky and we ended up getting a couple stamps and some paper. Was a good day!! This is a stamp that my mom bought when we down there and it's absolutely stunning on paper! I couldn't wait to color it!!!! We also got our hands on some fantastic paper as well and the colors just move perfectly.

This card actually qualifies for 3 challenges ...

I added some glitter to the flower, colored with lyra's and OMS. Paper is from Stamping Bella and stamp is from Pointer's!

Have a fantastic day everyone! I'm off to play with my other new stamps!

  2. Mojo Monday - #98, sketch!

I used another of Stamping Bella's new releases called "Cuppa Tea" (comes with a mini and sentiments!) and I LOVE it! I decided to try something different, so I embossed the image in CTMH "Clover Green" and then I used my CTMH "Summer Chalks" to color it in with a Dove Blending Pen. Ribbon, buttons and glitter are all CTMH. Paper is from Pointer's!

Meet Gertie!

Good morning! I'd like to introduce you to "Gertie" from Stamping Bella's new Lulu Collection! Isn't she cute? I decided to use her for a couple challenges this week. I'm using this one for my own Monday challenge this week as well as ...

A Call To Serve: The Butterfly Project (FBW #69 & Pile It On #9))

Today on Flutter By Wednesday, the challenge is very heart warming and I decided to post it here as well. It's called "A Call To Serve: The Butterfly Project". This is a piece from the post that I wanted to share..."More than 1,500,000 innocent children were murdered during the Holocaust. In an effort to remember them, the Holocaust Museum of Houston is collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies. The butterflies will eventually comprise a breath-taking exhibition, currently scheduled for Spring 2012, for all to remember."

So, I thought the more we get this out there, the better. Please go to Craft Critique for more information. Butterflies have to be mailed NO LATER than September 15th. You'll find everything you need at Craft Critique. I'm also attaching a Mr. Linky so you can post your butterflies here for all to see, if you choose.

I've also entered this card in my first "Pile It On" challenge as well. You are to use at least 3 flowers or more!

I used my cricut cartridge "Walk In My Garden" to make my butterfly at 5 inches.

Please Note:
  • Butterflies should be no larger than 8 inches by 10 inches.
  • Butterflies may be of any medium the artist chooses, but two-dimensional submissions are preferred.
  • Glitter should not be used.
  • Food products (cereal, macaroni, candy, marshmallows or other perishables) also should not be used..
  • Place your butterfly in a Ziplock Bag with your name and address.

For A Special Girl - Stamping Bella Challenge

Hello there! Well, we are still having really CRAZY weather here in Ontario. Still waiting for summer to come! Last week Emily had a big release down at Stamping Bella, so for this week's Stamping Bella Challenge, a sketch by Paulabella, I chose to use 'Harriet' Lulu from the new 'Lulu' line. I added a little glitter and used my new glaze pen on her as well. I think she turned out pretty cute!!
STAMP: Harriet Lulu and sentiment, both from Stamping Bella
PAPER: Bo Bunny

"Play Along" Monday's Challenge #3 - CUTTLEBUG!

Sorry, I'm a day late and still have to get my card sample done, but I wanted to let you know that this week's challenge is to use TWO different cuttlebug embossing folders on your card! When you're done, add a DIRECT link in Mr. Linky so we can come and visit your blog and see your work!! Look fwd to everyone's creations!! (my card to follow today)

Some More Pics From Our Walk

Here's some more pics from our walk this morning. So pretty and quiet back there. We all had a nice time. Andrew decided to stay home, and we were gone almost 2.5 hours. He said it was a long time! I'm always on the look out for deer back there, but nothing today. The bugs were quite bad, so they're likely hiding out somewhere. This is our other dog, Angel. She's a mini daschund and the boss of the house! Enjoy my little photo shoot!
PS: Play Along Monday's Challenge to follow later today
