Sugar and Spice...

This week's challenge at Stamping Bella was a sketch challenge (see above)! I was so excited! I've actually never done a sketch challenge, so this one was alot of fun for me. Here is my card, inspired by my new niece, Isabella. (all material is Stamping Bella)

Hope you like it...

All Girl...

Meet 'Little Emmy'! Isn't she just the cutest?? She's one of Stamping Bella's new releases! If you go to www.stampingbella.com and click on "What's New" you'll see them there! Apparently all the stamps are ADORABLE!

This whole card is Stamping Bella product. I used my Lyra's and mineral spirits to color Emmy and I've posted 2 different views of the card face. Alot of ppl have a hard time getting just the right color etc with their camera's, so I always try different angles, lighting etc. These are taken outside and the first one is with the sun BEHIND me, so you get the shadow on the card, but it's nice and bright..the second is with the sun in FRONT of me, clear photo but a bit darker in color. For those out there struggling, try these 2 angles and see how it goes. For anyone out there who's perfecting the lighting, pls comment and let us know your secrets!!!

Photography, My Other Passion

Good morning! Last night we went for a nice family walk along the lake. Being a scrapbooker, I always have camera in hand. Photography is another passion/hobby of mine, something I love to do. I find I'm thinking ahead all the time now when taking pics, how I can make it into a layout etc. My son doesn't like his photo taken at all, but my daughter, as you can see here, LOVES her photo taken and will pose every time. I wanted to share my photography with you today, as behind all our scrapbooks, there's a photographer...
Enjoy!

Mosaic Zoo Layout

This layout is from 1992...wow, seems like a very long time ago! This was one of my husband and my first dates! We went to Elmvale Zoo and then the Collingwood Caves.

This is another mosaic, but this was actually my first one, so I learned from this one about doing the faces in one square and working around that. Looks much nicer!

I hope you like this! If you would like to try it yourself, feel free to email me for detailed instructions at wilson_familyof4@hotmail.com

Bug Hunter In Training (layout)

I wanted to share this layout as I think it's one of my all time favorites. Our son has always loved exploring bugs and looking under every rock and in every nook and cranny. No matter where we went, he was off exploring. He would never hurt anything and he was in his glory when he found something as small as an ant. So, when our daughter turned 4, Andrew decided she needed to learn to be a 'Bug Hunter'...yep, pretty much up there with the Crocodile Hunter, which was his absolute favorite show. So here's our boy, teaching his little sister how to be a bug hunter. I just love this layout and my heart swells with pride every time I look at it at how good he was and still is with her. I think my favorite photo in this layout is their hands together.

I hope you love it as much as I do...leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Sending Out Congrats To Christine!

It's Your Day....

Good morning! What a GORGEOUS day we have ahead!! Enjoy!

On Saturday, a group of us went down to Stamping Bella to do a card class with Nicky. We had a ball. Nicky is going to be running the Magical Ketto 2 class for the month of May, so she asked that we only post 1-2 cards. I chose 1 card to give you a sneak peak of her class. Honestly, you should take her classes if you have the chance. You learn different techniques and the cards are so darn cute!! This is one from Nicky's Magical Ketto 2 class. Meet 'Charlotte Ketto'! Is she not adorable! We colored her in with lyra pencils and odorless mineral spirits. I've been struggling at home with the lyra's and discovered it was the paper I was using! So, I now have paper from Stamping Bella and once I get what I need to get done today, I can play!!

Enjoy your day everyone!

EDIT: If you're interested in taking Nicky's classes, go to www.stampingbella.com and click on 'calendar' and chk out her May classes!

More May SOTM Artwork ~ Live Fast, Stay Pretty

Hello!! I hope everyone has been enjoying this wonderful spring wknd!! This is another card I put together to showcase the upcoming May SOTM "Be Yourself". I used the following CTMH materials:
  • Silhouette paper pack
  • May SOTM "Be Yourself"
  • Originals Card Confidence book, pg 90...this is a MUST have for anyone who loves to make cards!

The little 'Made With Love' charm is from Stamping Bella. I've also included the photo of the card design from the book to show you how easy it is to make it your own. You have the book as a guide which comes complete with measurements and templates and you take it from there. I absolutely LOVE this book and can't wait for the new one that will be available in June!

May SOTM Sneak Peak "One Of A Kind..."

I finally did it!! I tried paper sewing!! I don't have a steady hand, so I thought the wavy line would be the easiest to go with for my first time! I'm so proud of myself! I know the card looks 'Chrismasy', but here's the thing....I had a heck of a time threading my hand sewing machine, so once I got it threaded (after almost 45 min's...ugh) I thought "Oh no! I meant to change the color!" But I was so intent on getting that thread in...I just went searching for matching paper.

So, here's a sneak peak at the CTMH May SOTM!

  • CTMH May SOTM "Be Yourself"
  • CTMH "Everlasting" paper pack
  • CTMH "Card Sentiments" acrylic stamp (There are many people that we meet in our lives, but only a few are worth getting to know)
  • CTMH buttons
  • CTMH organdy white daisy ribbon
  • CTMH Originals Card Confidence Program, pg 109 'Left to Right pattern'

What's Mew?

Hello!! Well, I went down to meet my new niece last night and what a doll! She's beautiful!! My sister is doing very well, looks great!
This week, Stamping Bella's contest is to use pink and brown in a card and it's due today by 5:00pm. With everything going on, I literally JUST put this card together! Came up and had 3 msg's on my answering machine...can't talk, creativity in progress!! So, this is my entry for this week. I used CTMH "Life's Delight" paper pack (very pretty!), I paper pieced her pants and used fun flock on the cats to add texture/dimension. Of course, the stamp and sentiment are both from Stamping Bella!
Hope you like it!

Sunshine and Smiles...

My FIRST magnolia card!! I had SO much fun doing this card! I stamped her from my friend, Christine's, stamp and then got really creative and had her swinging from a tree! The butterflies are from CTMH March SOTM "Butterfly Wings", the tree branch is from my cricut "Graphically Speaking" cart and the sentiment is another (retired) CTMH stamp set. I love this card!!!!!!!!! Thanks Christine for letting me stamp your Tilda!

Dedication and a Thank You Card

I haven't posted alot this week as it's been a tough week at our house. We had to put our family dog down as we found out on Wed that she had bone cancer. This post is dedicated to our Roxie but it's also a thank you to our wonderful neighbors. We got up Saturday morning and found a single rose and a beautiful card on our front step. So last night, I made this card for them. It's nice to know we have such wonderful neighbors.

Happy Birthday To You (Buckle Card)

I made this card for my cousin's birthday back in December. This is done using:
  • CTMH Glitter
  • CTMH 'Paper Garden' paper pack
  • Cupcake Stamp set

This is called a 'buckle card' and I found the idea over on a fellow consultants blog, http://www.clearlyinspired.blogspot.com/ and if you go into her search bar at the top of her blog and type in buckle card, her post where she did her buckle card will come up!

If Friends Were Flowers...

Good morning! Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter wknd! I didn't get alot done as it was a busy wknd and we had my brother here all wknd as well, but I did manage to color my first little hedgehogs! This stamp is so darn cute and thanks to my friend Tanya, for letting me stamp it! I had fun doing this one. Inside sentiment reads "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you!"

Hope you like it to!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Last yr we did a scavenger hunt and the kids loved it. This yr, my (almost) 13 year old ended up being my helper (yep, he's apparently growing up) and we had a lot of fun. So, here were Ashleigh's clues...
  1. In your front room, the furniture is red. What rhymes with red? It's something you use each and every night! Look under it and you'll find a treat and another clue! **BED**
  2. In your computer room, there's a shelf full of ______? This word rhymes with 'COOKS'...look here for a treat and another clue! **BOOKS**
  3. Mommy puts her towels in ________ Look here to find a treat and another clue! **BATHROOM CUPBOARD**
  4. What is mommy's favorite room in the house? Look here for a treat and another clue! **SCRAPBOOK ROOM**
  5. Daddy has tons of these in his room ______ this word rhymes with 'DISH' **FISH**
  6. I am a washer, but I don't wash clothes, what am I? Look here to find your last treat! **DISHWASHER**

She had SO much fun figuring out all her clues. I couldn't believe it though when she came running in at 6am!! Needless to say, there's no pics of her hunting bc no one was up! LOL! She brought each clue back to me in bed and then off and running she went! She was done and skipping with her new skipping rope by 6:40am!!!!!!! '

Here's her Easter treats. She took the eyes off her cat already....before I had a chance to get a pic!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Happy Birthday, Andrew (2007)

Good morning! So, I was going through my stash of cards and I found this one. I made this for my son's 11th birthday, 2 years ago! Isn't it funny how we start out thinking, "Wow! Look what I did!" and then we look back a couple years later and now we can say, "Wow! Look how far I've come!" That's how I feel when I look back at cards and layouts I did years ago. I would never change any of them, as that's how I got started and that was good enough for me then, so it's good enough for me now. I'm just going more and more outside my box and it's fun to look back and see just how far I've grown and will continue to grow. Especially with all the inspiration I get from my friends and from the blogs/websites I visit!

Happy Easter

I made this card last yr for Easter. I used the CTMH easter stamp and added some CTMH liquid glass to the eggs and using a kleenex, I dabbed the stamps with multiple colors to get the tie dyed effect!

My Heart Belongs To You

I made this card for my husband for our anniversary last yr. I used CTMH Sculpting Foam for the heart. I stamped it and then colored it red. It's almost like a soft clay and hardens as well.

House Mouse Birthday Card

Good morning! Another snowy day out there. Supposed to be 13* on the wknd, can you believe that?? I've added a 'Live Traffic Feed' to my site and I absolutely love it! I can see where you're from and it's so neat to see ppl from all around the world, coming to see my work! I'll have to be sure to keep posting!!

Yesterday I was looking for something and came across some cards I have made over the last yr, so thought I would share. This one was for my daughter's 8th birthday. It's a house mouse stamp and I used CTMH fun flock and glitter on the cupcake to add some dimension to it. She loved it!

Colorful Tuesday Challenge!!

Good morning!! I'm so excited about this week's challenge! I've chosen a color challenge this time around. I found this picture and it made me smile and know there's hope for spring. With this weather we're having, I think this is the perfect challenge. This time, you have till Saturday, April 18th at 6pm. You have 2 weeks for this one! Here's your color palette! Have fun and can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! Don't forget, you can do a card, layout, altered item, whatever you like, as long as you have these colors incorporated in your project!

Catch That Snowball!

I feel a scrapbook layout coming on!! I had to share these. This is my daughter, Ashleigh, and our newest addition to the family, Riley. He's not quite 5mths old and he's already about 62 lbs or so!! Anyway, he absolutely LOVES snow and as you can see, we have quite alot of snow on the ground today. It's not very nice at all, seeing as it's spring!! LOL! So, Ashleigh was throwing snowballs up and Riley caught every one of them!! They had a ball out there, so had to take some pics and I'll have to do a layout. At least someone was enjoying it!!

New Arrival

With my sister expecting her third baby soon, I made this card for her. (hope you like it Lee Ann! LOL!) I used my Cricut Expression and 'New Arrival' cartridge for this card. I LOVE this cartridge!! Again, a little glitter, a little bling..makes the card.
