Feeling Under The Weather?

Good morning!! This is a 6x6" card that I put together last night. It's for no one in particular right now, but always good to have on hand. I just thought it was a perfect sentiment for the card! The sentiment is Stamping Bella and the bunny stamp is from House-Mouse. I watercolored him and then added silver glitter to the rain drops.

More Birthday Card Samples!

Just wanted to share a couple more birthday sample invitations I came up with! Both are for a little boy's first birthday and they're to be in a candyland type theme. So I went with the board squares and added the jar of candy on the card front and on the squares, I added candy! The first one here is a 9x4" card and I've left the center all open as that's where the birthday information would go.

I hope you like!

Easter Basket

Well, I surprise myself again! I wanted to do something special for our kids as well as my nieces and nephew for Easter. So, I used my cricut "Stretch Your Imagination" cartridge for this whole idea!! I used CTMH "Fun Flock" on the bunny, CTMH "Liquid Glass" on the eggs and I used the CTMH Easter stamp.

I'm very happy with my newest creation!! Hope you like it to!

The Games Are Back!

Michele left me a comment on my "Another Facelift" post and said she missed the game I had at the bottom of my blog, so I've added that AND 1 more! Scroll down to the bottom and have fun!

Nicky's Card Class at Stamping Bella!

Good morning! Last night I went to Stamping Bella in Thornhill and took my first card class with Nicky. I can't wait to take another one! You can find her personal blog here http://creationsbynicky.blogspot.com/ . If you're ever in the Thornhill area, I HIGHLY recommend taking one of her classes! Click on http://www.stampingbella.com/ and then click the calendar to see a schedule. If you can't fit a time into Nicky's schedule, email and let her know! We had a great time last night and learned alot of new things!!

Card #1 - For this one, we did 'paper piecing'. If you enlarge the pic, or look closely, you can see her dress and roller skates are paper! You stamp her on the white and then again on patterned paper and cut it out and assemble!

Card #2 - This one we were able to try a chalking technique. We used prisma colored chalks and a blender pen, what a neat technique and the chalk feels like velvet!

Card #3 -Again we used paper piecing with this one and mineral spirits to blend the color on her sleeves. I didn't add my sentiment to this one yet.

Card #4 - This one was done with watercolor pencils and mineral spirits. I LOVE the mineral spirits! This was my first time using it and I bought it last night. You color an area of your image and then using what's called a 'stump' (looks like a paper pencil), you dip it in the mineral spirits and the start circling on your color and drag it across. Works wonderful and gives a great 'watercolor' look to your cards! I LOVED it! This card also has a 'shadow' stamp under her feet.

Card #5 - This one opens 'upwards' and we were able to try out the copics with this one. A little taste anyway!! I love this color scheme together. Very soft.

Of course, every card has a little bit of glitter!!!
Hope you like them, pls leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
Nicky, thank you SO much for showing us your talent! I know I learned some new things!!

Another Facelift!

Hello!! Well, I've done it again! I had to change it up again, wasn't as find as the other template as I thought I was. I was looking for a new template for another blog I run for our scrapbooking club (www.kelliandkaren04302007.blogspot.com) and came across this template and fell in love with it!! I absolutely LOVE this color scheme and how it all just blends together. I hope you do to!! Let me know what you think.

Well, I am off to Stamping Bella tonight for a "Magical Ketto" card class with Nicky and can't wait!! There's 4 from our group going and we're all quite excited. I'll post my cards tmw!!

Have a wonderful day and don't forget, your 'Sketchy' Tuesday card is due on Saturday! I already have one submission and I think another on it's way!!

'Sketchy' Tuesday!!

You guessed it!! Our first challenge is going to be from a sketch!! I got this sketch from http://www.making-birthday-cards.com/. Remember, make your card any size you would like, follow the sketch and have fun with this!!

Email your submissions to wilson_familyof4@hotmail.com with MARCH 24 in the subject line. All submissions are due on Saturday, March 28th at 6pm. I'll load them up here on Sunday and winner will be announced on Monday morning!!! Winner will receive a basket filled with scrapbooking goodies!

For those of us, including myself, who have never done a sketch challenge before, all you have to do is follow the design of the sketch. BUT, where you see the 3 squares, you could incorporate flowers, stamps, square paper with stamped image...whatever embellishment you like. Where you see the lines on either side of the squares, you could put ribbon, twill...it's endless!! Where you see 'Greeting' you can put any sentiment you like there!! Hope that helps!

Good luck everyone!

Every Other Tuesday Just Got More Interesting!!!

Hello again!! So, I've decided to start a bi-weekly challenge to keep us in the cardmaking/scrapbooking mood!! With the warmer weather coming up, it's VERY easy to get out of the loop and next thing you know, you're either WAY behind in those pg's or you have an occasion coming up and you need that card yesterday!!!

So, here's the rules!
  1. Every other Tuesday I will post either a sketch or a color challenge
  2. All you have to do is follow the sketch or color scheme and come up with a layout or a card!
  3. Submissions are to be emailed to wilson_familyof4@hotmail.com by Saturday evening at 6pm
  4. Entries will be posted on Saturday night OR Sunday morning
  5. Winner will be announced on Monday morning via random number generator
  6. Each challenge will be a different prize

I look fwd to seeing what you come up with!

Easter Is On It's Way!!

Good morning! Another cool one. I wonder if Mother Nature knows that spring has officially arrived?? I think she's forgotten. Oh well, at least it's sunny! We woke this morning to 62*C!! For some reason, one of our breakers tripped and it was the one the furnace runs on...OOPS!! So, with hubby talking me through this morning, we figured it all out. Now we're nice and cozy again.

Just wondering, how is everyone doing with your easter plans? Have you been making anything special? What do you do as far as traditions?? I'm working on little easter baskets for my 2 kids as well as my 2 nieces and my nephew. Come next easter, we'll have one more addition!! Once I get my baskets done, or at least one, I'll post a pic for you. So stay tuned!!

Don't forget, you can always join my 'followers' so you get notified each time I post and then you won't ever miss a thing!!!

Have a wonderful day and stay tuned for my finished easter basket!! It's looking quite cute!

Candyland Themed Birthday Invitations! (Sample 2)

Here's sample #2. This one is a little more simple. I'm trying out a couple different idea's before I send them all off! This one I used liquid glass on the jellybeans and I chalked the jar as well.

Candyland Themed Birthday Invitations! (Sample 1)

Hello there! First of all, I'd like to send a thank you out to Marissa from Staton Island, New York. I did some invitations for her daughter's upcoming 2nd birthday, and she's passed my name on to some friends! So, I have another 'possible' order for 1rst birthday invitations.

Helene wanted her son's birthday to be candyland themed, (candy and board squares), using the primary colors. So I'm working on samples to send her to see which one she likes.

For this one, I popped the lollipops off the page, added some fun flock on the ice cream cone, glittered the candy jar and popped if off as well.
Remember, if you click on the photo, it'll enlarge it to see better details!

Kids Can Too!!!

Hello!! Well, I came down tonight to work on my card for the Bellarific challenge and all was quiet and next thing I knew, here comes my daughter Ashleigh..lol..she's a scrapper and card maker like me. She's doing very well and not afraid to try anything either. She tried her first Bella stamp tonight and it's one from the new KETTO line. She did a great job!! She even took the photo!

Kid's Can Too!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Dear Friend

It's time for another Bellarific Friday challenge!! This week we were given the photo below and what a pretty color scheme! Now that I see the 2 pics together, I think my one color is off. Oh well, I've sent it in and still very happy with it. I can see how much I've grown in the last while, so that's good!! I've started trying new things and not being afraid to go outside of my box. I love this card!!!

The card is a 6x6" and I used the paper from CTMH "Key To My Heart" paper pack, the stamp is from the KETTO line at Stamping Bella, I used 'Sorbet', 'Juniper', 'Tulip' and 'Creme Brulee' CTMH ink as well as a large circle scallop punch, heart punch, valentine's lace edge punch and for coloring, I used a water brush with the ink pads!

Hope you like it....pls leave a comment and let me know what you think. If you're not sure how, it's very easy! If you scroll down under this post you'll see 'comments', click there and another window opens and you'll see a box that say's 'Leave Your Comment'. Layouts!

On Sunday, I went down to Stamping Bella in Thornhill and took a layout class with Diane. If you're in the area, you can go to http://www.stampingbella.com/ and at the top of the page you'll see 'Calendar', click there and you can see all the classes coming up! This class was called "A Year In Review" and we did 13 layouts in 3 hours!! I was amazed! You'll see white mats on some pages, those are just tacked down to show where pictures and/or journalling can go. I didn't add a mat to all of them as I was thinking nice big pictures would look really nice as well. Wasn't sure what I wanted to do with all of them. The great thing is, they're done and now all we do is add pictures! One thing I learned as well is that it's ok to use patterns together. This is one thing I was always leary about. But they just work!!

Happy Birthday

My sister bought this stamp and I just HAD to try her out! She is SO cute!!! I added some fun flock to the cupcake to make it pop put. See where it says 'Happy Birthday'? Well, I ended up with a little boo boo there and with some help from my friends on what to do, as I thought I had to pitch the whole thing, we came up with the little flower idea! Not bad, huh??? The stem is where I had my little 'oops'!

'Aloha'!

I don't know about you, but I am just so tired of this wintery weather, I had to come up with a card with a 'warm' feeling and what better than a beach card??? Again, this one is done using watercolor pencils and for the background, I used kleenex and blotted Close To My Heart's 'Heavenly Blue" ink pad and dabbed it all around the outside of my image to give it the look of clouds.

'Agnes KETTO' Glass Coaster

Meet Agnes KETTO! Isn't she a doll?? I bought the glass coaster at Stamping Bella and then you add your image of choice in the bottom. I stamped Agnes and colored her using watercolor pencils and added some glitter to give her some 'bling'.

Hope you like her....

Antiquing (cards) Class

On Friday night, our scrapbook group had Catherine Black, from Stampin' Up!, come up and teach us about antiquing. We had a ball! I think Catherine may think we're all a little crazy!!

The first card is all about tearing and creating a suede feel with your paper. We took the stamped piece and we ran a bone folder over it over and over and over till the paper started to separate. You use core paper for this. Once it starts to separate, you CAREFULLY pull the 2 layers apart and you're left with paper that feels like suede! You then stamp it and add your other colors on top to give it an antique look

The second card is about using sandpaper to create an aged look on the tree. We stamped the tree and then using sandpaper, you run it across the square so it scratches the paper. You then rub your ink color over the top giving it that cracked look!

Sometimes Life Is A Balancing Act

Stamping Bella came out with a new line of stamps and of course, I had to get my hands on some of them!! This is a card I made using 'Ivy KETTO' and of course the sentiment is also from Stamping Bella!

Joy

It's funny how colors are SO different on the computer! Even though the 2 photo's were taken in the same spot, the lighting is completely different!

I called this card, Joy, as that's what you feel when you have a new baby. I hope you like it.

Materials Used:
  • swiss dots cuttlebug embossing folder
  • 'sunday dress' stamping bella stamp
  • stampin' up! scallop circle punch
  • martha stewart circle punch (smaller one)
  • close to my heart 'annotations' stamp set (pink circle INSIDE the punched out circle)

Love Bug

Have you been bitten by the 'Love Bug' lately?? Well, meet little 'flutterby HUGGABUG'!! Isn't she a doll??? She's another cute stamp set from the Huggabug family at Stamping Bella (http://www.stampingbella.com/)

I had alot of fun with this one. My first time stamping her. I used my 6x6" paper sampler from Close To My Heart, my Martha Stewart 'Valentine Lace' edge punch, Martha Stewart 'Heart' punch, prisma glitter, watercolor pencils/blending pen, Martha Stewart Valentine's stamp (love bug and xoxoxo), ribbon and bling from Michaels!

Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Nurse Nelli ~ Feeling Under The Weather?

Meet Nurse Nelli!! Yes, another stamp from Stamping Bella! Can you tell I just LOVE these stamps?? This one really reminds me of my daughter, Ashleigh, and her white teddy bear that she has. I've added some fun flock to the teddy bear so he has texture. The paper is from Close To My Heart. It's a sample pack of 6x6" sheets that you can purchase. I used watercolors and blending pen to color her in, added some white daisy organdy ribbon and punched the pink patterned paper to give it a little pizzaz!!

Hope you like!

First Attempt At Flower Soft!

Ever heard of flower soft? Me neither, until last week. It's a really cool product that's kind of like fun flock, but better! If you go to http://www.flower-soft.com/ and then go into projects and watch the video there, you'll be amazed at what you can do with this stuff. I know I was! So, this is my very first attempt using flower soft. You can buy this at Stamping Bella. This color is Delphinium Blue. I colored the bluebells underneath as well and then added the flower soft on top. Still need to play to perfect it, but for my first time, not to bad!

If Friends Were Flowers...

Are you sick of Stamping Bella stamps yet? I didn't think so! LOL! They truly are my newfound favourites. This one here is called 'best friends forevah' and the sentiment inside says 'if friends were flowers, i'd pick you'. How cute is that????

Materials Used:
  • CTMH 'Unforgettable' lv 2 paper pack and stickease
  • Cuttlebug 'Divine Swirls' embossing folder
  • CTMH prisma glitter
  • CTMH watercolor pencils/blending pen
  • dollarama flowers
  • brad from michaels

I just wanted to show you how adding a little distressing, can really change a card! All I did was using a sanding block, ran it over the raised cuttlebug embossed area and look what happens! You get a whole new look! Make sure your paper is white core when doing this technique to get the full affect!

And The Winner Is..........
