At The Pumpkin Patch

Hello! Well, Ashleigh is finally feeling back to her normal self. She's been off school all this week with what started as strep and ended up with a nasty fever and ALOT of sleeping and now she has the cough. But, she can go back to school on Monday. Today we ventured to get our pumpkins and tonight, we'll head out to trick or treat for a bit, but not to long. I just don't want her to get sick again. Those fevers were scary. It's really windy out there today and the temp keeps dropping. I have to say, I was visiting another blog today and they have ALOT of snow in Charles Lake BC! I'll take the wind and the cool weather, thank you! I did do a couple projects yesterday, but they're for next week, so you'll have to stay tuned!! Happy Halloween to those who celebrate and safe trick or treating!

FBW #81 - "All Things Grow With Love"

Be sure to visit Danni's Dreams for this week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge! This week is another open week and you just have to use a butterfly, fairy or an angel on your project. I've been lacking in my FBW projects, so I made an effort today to get my card done for this week! I bought this paper last Christmas and haven't even touched it yet. I didn't want to use it for just anything as it's so pretty! Today Ashleigh came out with a piece that she had cut and gave me the idea. So, thank you Ashleigh! Since the paper already had a butterfly in it, I added a couple of punched butterflies that I had on hand from a project Christine showed us how to do. I used different embellishments on my project, so I tucked these guys safely away! I also added the sentiment, which I bought at Michaels. I thought it turned out very pretty and I hope you like it to!

"Joy!" - OCC Challenge

This week's challenge on Our Creative Corner is a really fun one! Create a card or a project inspired by your favorite holiday book or movie. You'll have to make sure to hop by OCC to see what the design team came up with! I love Christmas and seeing as I just got all my stamps from Stamps and Smiles new release, I decided to go with Frosty The Snowman! I had a lot of fun putting this one together. I actually used 2 different stamp sets. I then thought it would be fun to add fun flock to his scarf, mitts and nose and of course, had to add all that glitter to the snowflakes (Martha Stewart punch)!

Stamp Sets:
Have a fun day everyone!

"You're One In A Melon!" High Hopes Challenge #50 - All About Kids!

This week's challenge at High Hopes is "All About Kids!" I finally had a chance to get out my new (untouched) stamps from High Hopes and play!! They're all so cute, I had a hard time choosing which one to use. This one is called "Summer's Sweetness". I got the pattern idea from my CTMH "Wishes" Card book, a must have for all you card makers out there!! The paper is from 2 different CTMH paper packs...
  • Paper Garden
  • Bella

And the embellishments are all CTMH as well!

"Let It Snow!" Project Tuesday, Stair step Card!

Good morning! First off....HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our daughter, Ashleigh! She turns 9 today!!

This week over at Project Tuesday, we were asked to make a Stair step card. This one was alot of fun and again, not as hard as it looks! I actually used 2 stamps from the new releases at Stamps and Smiles:
  1. Cuppy's Winter Wonderland (cuppy and sentiment)
  2. Trim A Tree
I also used alot of embellishments on this card. On Cuppy, I paper pieced the hat and scarf and then added fun flock on the fur of her hat and I added glitter to her 'icing'. For the tree's, I added liquid applique to make the 'snow' and if you can see it, the whole white area behind the trees is all glitter as well. The "Let It Snow" is done in gold embossing with a little liquid applique added as well. Snowflakes are a from a new Martha Stewart punch I just bought.

Have a great day everyone!

Here's the last of the 4 cards from the "Around The Holidays" CTMH card kit. Again, I used glitter and liquid glass on this one as well. I still need to add my ribbon.

This is the entire kit!

"Around The Holidays" Card Kit - 'Season's Greetings'

Another set from the CTMH "Around The Holidays" card kit. Again, you can buy this kit for $18.50 CDN. For this one, I added some glitter and some liquid glass. I haven't added ribbon on all of them as I am trying to decide whether to stay with the long piece so you can hang them from your tree, since they look like ornaments. Thanks for that idea, Nancy!

"For You" Project Tuesday - Shaker Card!

For this week's challenge over at Project Tuesday, we made a shaker card. Be sure to visit to see what the other DT came up with! You'll find some great inspiration. For my project, I used:

  • Martha Stewart glitter (shaker)

Since our little girl turns 9 next Tuesday, I think I will give this to her. She'll love it! Love this stamp? Hop on over to Stamps and Smiles and check out the rest of the stamps as well as the new release!

"Around The Holidays" Card Kit - 'Joyous Noel'

This coming Friday night, my sister and her friend are holding an Avon & Parylite Open House and she asked me if I would like to bring some cards to sell as well. So, I've been working on getting them together and then thought I had better get some Xmas ones done as well. Close To My Heart came out with a Christmas Card Kit this season and over the next few days, I'll showcase them for you. The card kit is called "Around The Holidays" and it comes with everything you need to make 12 cards (3 each of 4 designs). Mind you, I ran out of ribbon. You can add your own embellishments, whatever you wish.

This is the first set of 4 and it's called "Joyous Noel". I added glitter to this one and popped the stickease off with pop dots. You can buy this card kit for $18.50 CDN, which is well worth it. I did all 12 cards in about an hour and a half!

Last Night's Club Night...We Made Origami Tree's!

Last night, a group of us got together for our monthly scrapbook night. We usually end up making cards, but last night we ended up trying out this new technique. Kelli couldn't recall where she had seen the technique, so I researched the blogs tonight and came across Pixie too... and she has a great tutorial on this! Give it a go and let's see what you come up with! Put your direct link in Mister Linky so we can all come and see your creation! Mine's the very top one and the rest are from the girl's in our club.

"The Cracked Pot"

I had this emailed to me this morning and I wanted to share it with you:

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them. So, to all of my cracked pot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Still here!

Hello my friends! I am still here, just had a VERY busy week! As some of you know, we had a family wedding to attend last wknd and it was beautiful. I may get something on here today as I have ALOT of challenges to catch up on, but if not, they'll start tmw! Have a great day all!

Project Tuesday - Acetate Treat Box

Good morning! Today over on Project Tuesday, our project was to make an acetate treat box. You can find the instructions here. This is actually fun and fairly easy to make! I filled it with little heart candies. I was actually really busy this week and didn't get a chance to get out to an office supply store for acetate, so I improvised with what I had at home and ended up using a folder that you can get at the dollar stores in many different colors and made it with that!! Pretty clever, huh?
Thank you for stopping by and enjoy your day my friends!

"Play Along" Monday's Challenge #12 - "Thank You" Project

Happy Thanksgiving! Seeing as it's Thanksgiving Day here in Canada, I thought it would be nice to celebrate it with all of you. I'd like to know what YOU are thankful for. See if you can come up with 5 things that you are thankful for and be sure to leave a comment. Next Monday, we'll have 2 winners....one for this week's challenge and one person will win for leaving a comment.

Here are 5 things that I am thankful for, in no particular order:
  1. I am thankful for my health and my families health
  2. I am thankful for my family and friends who have each touched me in different ways
  3. I am thankful for all my blogger friends...without you, this certainly wouldn't be possible!
  4. I am thankful that I am loved unconditionally (thank goodness for that!) every day
  5. I am thankful for everything around me...my home, my children's giggles, even their fights because it means they love eachother enough to care and fight it out
  6. I am also VERY thankful for those that are fighting overseas for us

For this week's challenge, I'd love to see you use "Thank You" in your project. I will work on mine tmw as I have been away all wknd at a wedding and today I've been editing all the photo's I took. Stay tuned for some of my wedding photo's!

Happy Columbus day to my USA friends!

Don't forget to add a DIRECT link to your project in Mister Linky so we can come and visit! Happy stamping!

Nature Photo Shoot

Good morning! Well it certainly is a rainy, fall day here in Ontario! I took advantage of the quiet and went for a drive along the lake this morning after getting my nephew on the bus. I had my 2 little daycare kids with me. As we're coming along, there was alot going on out there! So, we came home, I got my camera and back out we went. The kids got a kick out of it as I would stop and open the side door so they could see. Marcus is only 2 and he seemed to really enjoy seeing the birds. I just thought I would share...hope everyone enjoys their day today!
